Welcome to BeginnersUnite! We're glad you decided to join us. Feel free to look through our galleries for tutorials and the art of other members. If you're having trouble finding the tutorials you need, please check out our sister group Tutorials-R-Us where the tutorials are broken down based on the type. Any questions or concerns, please feel free to note the group or contact one of the admin.

:bulletblue: We do not accept mature content. If it looks nude (or the character is unclothed) it will be denied.
:star:There are only 2 exceptions to this rule-
:pointr:1) if it looks like an anatomy study or
:pointr:2) if it is something that may be helpful to those trying to learn anatomy,
then it can be submitted to our anatomy folder.
Other than that, submissions containing mature content will be denied.

:bulletblue: Please make sure you are submitting to the correct folders. Sometimes deviations are denied and I may not say anything, in those cases it's usually because it was submitted to the wrong folder. Please just resubmit it to the correct folder.

:bulletblue: Art theft is not tollerated. IF you are accused of art theft, or if it can be proved that a deviation is stolen, we will remove it from the group. If the deviation is not taken down from your account and you are still stealing art, we will remove and ban you from the group.
It is okay to reference a picture but you must credit the creator (or at least mention that you referenced the picture). Otherwise it will be considered art theft.

Well, as I mentioned last month, we will have a monthly exercise. This month I've been horribly busy with school so I completely forgot to prepare for it so this month we will use last month's exercise FOUND HERE.

Welcome to BeginnersUnite! I'm glad to have you here :icongrin--plz:
Even though this group is geared more towards beginners and helping us grow, we will gladly accept anyone who would like to join!

Thank you! by ayame18 Thank you to all of you who allow us to use your wonderful tutorials!

1. Be respectful: If you don't like something don't look, there is no need for you to be rude to other artists.

2. No Mature Content: As you all know, we no longer accept mature content. This includes excessive blood and gore and nudity. The only nudity allowed is in our anatomy section, if it's not an anatomy lesson or reference then it's not permitted in the group.

3. No BASE Art: This group is all about bettering your art skill so from now on, we do not allow base art. Try taking a look at our anatomy folder or ask any of the contributors if you need help with anatomy.

:new:4. No Advertising on the Main Page: I have been noticing this popping up lately but we have several ways for you to be advertised in our group.
:pointr: Submit a journal to the journal folder
:pointr: Note the group or an admin and we will add your information to the main page where everyone can see.
Please do not advertise contests or commissions in the comments area. Comments will be hidden.

Since it's a problem we seem to constantly run into, submissions have been limited to 5 a day per folder. Please remember, we are manually accepting submissions and when you upload your entire gallery, it floods our inbox. Not to mention the inbox of watchers once they are accepted. We will always welcome your art, just be mindful that we are not robots.

Group News

:bulletblue: I (founder) have created another group called Tutorials-R-Us :icontutorials-r-us:. The group is an extension of BeginnersUnite BUT, the group only accepts tutorials and deviations showing your improvement. The group divides tutorials into categories so they're much easier to find.

:bulletblue: Any nominees for our MotM, please send the deviant's name or icon to sketch7778 by note or note the group with the reason why you would like to nominate that person. Members can nominate members but cannot nominate themselves.

:bulletblue: Critique and Corrections folders are now closed! Please take a look at ArtistsInTheMaking:iconartistsinthemaking: for critiques.

Hi, I just made a profile.
How do I actually "join" a group?
Do I need to?
Can I just "watch" it and post or do I have to join?

This site is very confusing on my phone...

Hello :) Welcome to deviantArt!
It looks like you found the option to join. But yes, you must be a member to submit art to the group. If you watch the group, you would have notifications whenever work is submitted to the group by other members and admin.
I rarely use the site from my phone because I keep hearing of people having trouble with it. I know that when submitting art to a group from your phone, it doesn't always give you the option to change the folder you're submitting to (so I've heard).

The difference between a member and a contributor:
Members can submit art, comment in the group, note the group, receive notifications from the group (if they watch the group as well).
Contributors/any admin has to do all of the behind the scenes work (i.e. monthly blog, accepting/declining work submitted by members, etc) plus they have the option to submit their own artwork to the group.

It's the same for pretty much any group you join :)
Hope that helps, have a great weekend!

Ok, I submitted a request.

No idea what the difference between a member and a contributor is...?

I'd like to make a claim.
The user TheScarletBerserker has uploaded stolen art to this group. One user has actual proof as most of the art can be found, originally, on Pixiv.
Please remove the stolen artwork.
